NJ Paid Leave Train-the-Trainer for Parents and Caregivers

NJ Paid Leave Train-the-Trainer for Parents and Caregivers

Join this "train-the-trainer" workshop on Paid Leave in NJ.

Most employees in NJ are included in our paid leave benefit programs so that they can afford to take leave to care for their health, their loved ones health, cope with issues related to domestic violence, and to bond with new children (birth, adopted, and foster). New Jersey also guarantees most workers the right to earn a minimum number of paid sick days as well.

Join us to learn more about these benefits and workers' right to take leave in the Garden State.

Health Equity and Inclusive Paid Leave: Access for the LGBTQIA+ community

When it comes to taking time off, benefits can look different for everyone whether it be for mental health, caring for yourself or a loved one, or bonding. Access to inclusive paid leave and an affirming workplace that is free from discrimination is vital for all working people, especially Queer and Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QTBIPOC).

Join us on March 15 @ 10 am to discuss the intersection of workplace justice and LGBTQ rights in NJ! Utilizing a health equity perspective and analyzing existing policies such as inclusive family definition, family leave insurance, and the NJ Law Against Discrimination, we will discuss what options are available to the LGBTQ community as well as the barriers faced when accessing these benefits. Through storytelling, advocacy, and education, we can assure that the LGBTQIA can safely access time off when they need it the most. We will be joined by a panel of invited guest speakers from the Department of Labor, Garden State Equality, the New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence, COLAGE, and Family Values @ Work to dig deeper into this topic!

Quarterly PLOC Collaborative Virtual Convening on Access to Earned Sick Days

Quarterly PLOC Collaborative Virtual Convening on Access to Earned Sick Days

In 2018, NJ workers won the right to guaranteed paid sick days when we passed the Earned Sick and Safe Leave law, which gives workers the right to earn 40 hours or 5 days of paid sick time a year. However, many workers, including BIPOC workers, service workers, lower-wage and hourly workers, and LGBTQ+ workers lack access to paid sick leave. This leaves them to choose between making a living and caring for themselves or a loved one.

Together, we can help increase awareness and access to Earned Sick Days for all. Join us for a virtual convening on December 7, 2022, to discuss what the law provides, and what research shows is really happening on the ground. We will hear from invited guests from the Department of Labor, researchers, and advocates, to dig deeper into this topic. Line-up of confirmed speakers coming soon!

When: Dec 7, 2022 10:00 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
